How do I find out what media
equipment is available in my classroom?
To find out what media
equipment is installed in a classroom, visit our AV
TRACKER website at http://www.avtracker.duq.edu. This web site will let you search by building and room.
Once you locate the room, you can view a picture of
the room’s interior and find a listing of the
room’s installed AV equipment (i.e., projector,
sound system, VHS/DVD players, and screens).

How do I reserve
equipment for non-media classrooms or for other campus
teaching uses?
Since Duquesne has some classrooms
that do not have media, the MSDC supplies loaner equipment
or has media carts in some buildings to supplement these
rooms. To reserve equipment for use, contact the MSDC
by phone (412-396-4614), by e-mail (msdc@duq.edu),
or in-person at 211 Canevin Hall at least 1 business
day in advance of your need. Additionally,
- All requests are based on
availability of
equipment and staff resources.
- Equipment is scheduled on a first
come, first
request basis.
- Reservation must be made by a faculty
or
staff member. Students are not permitted
to schedule equipment for their use in the
classroom.
- Semester equipment requests are
permitted
and will be scheduled based on resource
availability.
- MSDC loaner equipment is NOT available
for
off-campus use.

How
do I receive the requested loaner equipment?
Upon confirmation of your equipment reservation,
you will be instructed on pickup and delivery procedures.
In most cases, you will be asked to come to the MSDC
in 211 Canevin Hall to pick up your equipment, which will
have all necessary peripherals, and to return this equipment
at the designated return time.
A MSDC staff or student
aide will check in your equipment and verify that everything
has been returned in working order. For special needs,
a student aide may be able to assist in delivery and
return. Due to the nature of the requested equipment
(e.g., A TV/VCR cart, media cart with projector and
computer), a MSDC student aide or staff member will
deliver the equipment to you.

What
equipment is available for loan and use on-campus?

What
do I do if I don’t know how to set up or use the
loaner equipment?
Anytime you are unsure of how to operate any MSDC equipment
or classroom media, contact us via phone (412-396-4614)
or e-mail (msdc@duq.edu)
or visit 211 Canevin Hall at least 1 day in advance of use.
A MSDC student aide or staff member will instruct you

How
do I play a VHS tape in a classroom without a VCR?
Some rooms on campus do not have VCRs in the room. For
many of these classrooms without VCRs, the MSDC can
remotely broadcast your VHS tape. To request this service,
call the MSDC at 412-396-4614. You will need to provide
the same information needed for equipment loans (see
page 23) and you will need to bring your VHS tape to
the MSDC before the scheduled airtime. A MSDC staff
member or student aide will provide you with instructions
for operating the remote broadcast terminal located
in the classroom.
