The MSDC will consult with Departemnts, Schools, and other units across campus regarding technology enhancements for seminar and conference rooms and other special technology needs.

Project
Based Consultation
For assistance on a visual or multimedia project for
your teaching, please contact the MSDC at msdc@duq.edu
or x4614 to set up an appointment with a staff member
to discuss your project needs. The consultation will
enable the MSDC to determine the project scope, resource
and equipment needs, and feasibility of the project.
Not all proposed projects can be accepted; some projects
will incur fees. Cost is determined on an individual
project basis.

Access
to MSDC hardware and software
The MSDC has a limited number of computers and equipment
available to faculty and staff for meeting specific
media needs related to instruction or administrative
uses only.
- Mac OSX and Windows XP desktops
are available for desktop video capturing/editing/production;
- desktop audio capturing/editing/production;
- CD burning of appropriate materials
for instructional use;
- DVD creation; image scanning
and OCR of documents.
- Software available: MS Office;
Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Image Ready,
Go Live, PDF Writer, and Elements; Macromedia Dreamweaver
MX, Fireworks, Flash, Freehand, and Director; Tech
Smith’s Camtasia Studio and SnagIT Inspiration
- Epson Pro and HP ScanJet scanners
for color scanning of both flat images and 35 mm slides.
- Nikon 35 mm slide scanner for scanning
35 mm slides to digital
- Polaroid Propallette 7000 for photographing
slides to convert to 35 mm slides
Note: It is
the responsibility of the faculty and University staff
members to comply with all copyright guidelines when
completing any projects using the MSDC hardware or
software. Contact the Gumberg Library for information
on copyright compliance.

Satellite
Downlinks, Campus Cable TV, and Video Conferencing
For information, pricing, and assistance with scheduling
a satellite downlink program, using the Campus Cable
TV, or for teleconferencing / video conferencing in
715 Fisher, please contact the MSDC at 412-396-4614
or msdc@duq.edu.
Given the high demand
of loaner equipment, classroom support needs, and faculty
requests for assistance, MSDC staff will provide any
necessary training and assistance for first time reservations;
however, for subsequent reservations, the faculty member
is responsible for setup and return unless troubleshooting
is required.
